We are pleased to announce that the Borgland Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig has arrived at Astican’s facilities in the Port of Las Palmas. Over the next ten months, this impressive rig will undergo an extensive refitting to prepare for its forthcoming assignments.

Built in 1977 by Harland & Wolff and weighing 18,000 tons, the Borgland Dolphin measures 109 metres in length and 67 metres in beam, supported by 12 sturdy pillars. The platform can accommodate up to 100 crew and has a maximum drilling depth of 27,800 feet, making it a formidable asset for offshore operations.

The Borgland Dolphin is here for a vital reactivation process, ensuring all systems are upgraded and ready for its next adventure. Upon completion of the refit, scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, the rig will head to the UK to begin a 137day drilling contract with EnQuest. It will then embark on a drilling campaign in the North Sea, further consolidating its role in the oil and gas industry.

We at Astican are proud to facilitate this crucial step in the Borgland Dolphin’s journey and look forward to witnessing its future successes.
