Since last month our qualified team has been working on two pipe layer vessels of our large customer Saipem.
Astican carries out repair work on this type of vessel with singular appearance. The Saipem Constellation which arrived first at our facilities with its 32,000 tons deadweight, 178.27 m overall length and 46 m beam, is equipped with 800 t multi-lay system for rigid-flexible pipelay with heavy in-line subsea structure handling system as well as a 3,000 t mast crane for heavy lift operations.
The Saipem FDS2 arrived 15 days later, is able to realize high complexity pipelaying and subsea installation projects (field development), providing high versatility and efficiency in different scopes.
It has a capacity of 29,500 tonnes and a length overall of 183.6 metres. Her width is 32m.
Its primary A/R winch wire rope is the world´s heaviest.
Both projects will take 45 to 60 days to complete.
