At ASTICAN, innovation is more than just a word: it’s an active practice that drives our vision for the future. These last weeks have been a clear demonstration of our commitment to technological evolution and sustainability, by participating in key international and local events that strengthen our connections in strategic sectors.
Our Innovation Manager, Álvaro Martín, represented ASTICAN at the Sustainable Ocean Summit & Global Blue Finance Summit 2024, an event held in Barcelona as part of the Smart City Expo World Congress. During his participation in the panel “The Power of Early Collaboration Between Startups and Corporates,” he shared our experiences in joint innovation initiatives. This event was an excellent opportunity to connect with leaders in the blue economy, such as BCN PORT Innovation and Thetius, exploring potential collaborations in European and R&D&I projects. Additionally, valuable connections were made with startups in biotechnology and digitalization, reinforcing our presence in an increasingly competitive and dynamic ecosystem.
On the other hand, our corporate IT director, Agustín Tapia, attended Port&Tech, the first immersive networking meeting between digital and port communities in Gran Canaria. Organized by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and other entities, the event brought together over 30 companies to foster collaboration between technology and maritime sectors. Dynamic networking sessions and presentations allowed us to identify synergies in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and 360º digitalisation, positioning us at the forefront of the digital transformation of the port sector.
Participation in these events underlines our commitment to innovation and our ability to adapt to global trends. We will continue working actively to strengthen our position in key sectors, exploring new opportunities that contribute to a more sustainable and digitalised future.
