Recently, ASTICAN facilitated a meeting between researchers from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Kaizten Analytics, technicians from EMERGE, and the Canarian Foundation for Scientific and Technological Parks (FCPCT ULPGC). Within the framework of the Innovate Canarias program, ASTICAN presented the challenge “Optimization of ship loading and unloading operations and their location in the Shipyard.”This challenge seeks to apply disruptive technologies, such as control and monitoring of operations, obtaining 3D models of ships before and after repairs, and the use of AI algorithms for efficient operation location. After presenting these challenges at local and international events, ASTICAN proposed a visit to its facilities. During the day, researchers toured the shipyard and engaged in detailed discussions about ASTICAN’s challenges.

The collaboration between the shipyard and this diverse group of experts promises to open new doors for innovation and applied research in the islands.
