The Innovation, IT and Mechanical personnel of Astican recently attended a key event on metal additive manufacturing organised by the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC) and Sicnova. This event, held at the ITC facilities in Pozo Izquierdo, Gran Canaria, provided the opportunity to learn first-hand about Direct Energy Deposition (DED) technology and 3D scanning technology, both of which are key to more efficient production processes.

During the day, specialised presentations and live demonstrations were offered to show the potential of additive manufacturing to create high-precision and high-strength metal parts, essential for ship repair. This visit reinforces Astican’s commitment to technological innovation and its commitment to integrate advanced manufacturing into its processes.

We are very excited about the possibilities of opening new ways of collaboration with ITC and other companies in the sector, shaping a more efficient and technological future for the ship repair industry. We will continue to explore these technologies to improve our responsiveness and offer innovative solutions to our customers.
