Alimia Shipyard Group, through its shipyards Astican (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain), Astander (Santander, Spain), and Astibal (Balboa, Panamá), is proud to announce its participation as a founding member of the Global Green Shipyard Alliance (GGSA) a new international coalition of leading shipyards committed to accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable, innovative, and efficient maritime industry.
In addition to Alimia Shipyard Group, the GGSA includes Drydocks World (UAE), BREDO Dry Docks GmbH (Germany), IMC Shipyard Services Group (Singapore, China, and Thailand), and Sefine & Besiktas Shipyards (Turkey). This joint initiative comes at a critical time for the maritime sector, marked by the urgent need to reduce the environmental impact of ship operations and meet international climate targets.
The alliance aims to foster knowledge sharing, joint technological development, and the implementation of harmonised Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. Within this framework, Alimia Shipyard Group will contribute its expertise in ship repair, maintenance, and modernisation, driving the adoption of sustainable solutions such as improved energy efficiency, digital optimisation, and the use of clean technologies.
